കേരളത്തിലെ കുഡുംബി സമുദായത്തിന്‍റെ സാമൂഹികവും, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസപരവും, സാംസ്കാരികവുമായ ഉയര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്കും ഉന്നമനത്തിനുവേണ്ടി 1962 -ല്‍ രൂപീകരിച്ച് ട്രാവന്‍കൂര്‍-കൊച്ചിന്‍ ലിറ്റററി സയിന്‍റിഫിക് ചാരിറ്റബിള്‍ സോസൈട്ടീസ് രെജിസ്ട്രേഷന്‍ ആക്ട്‌ (12/1955) പ്രകാരം 1965-ല്‍രജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്ത്(ER 15/65) പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചുവരുന്നു എറണാകുളംജില്ലയിലെ വടക്കന്‍ പറവൂര്‍ നന്ത്യാട്ടുക്കുന്നത്ത് രജിസ്ട്രേഡ് ഹെഡ് ഓഫീസും എറണാകുളം ടൌണില്‍ അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേറ്റീവ് ഓഫീസുമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന സംഘടനക്ക് 250 ഓളം ശാഖകള്‍ ഉണ്ട്. കുഡുംബി മഹിളാ സേവാസംഘം, കുഡുംബി യുവജനസംഘം, കേരള കുഡുംബി സ്റ്റുഡെന്‍സ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍, ശ്രീകുരുംബ എന്നിവ പോഷകസംഘടനകളായി സംഘടനക്ക് കീഴില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചുവരുന്നു.

നിസ്വാര്‍ത്ഥമായ സേവനം, നേതൃത്വ ഗുണം, ധീരത എന്നിവകൊണ്ട് സമുദായത്തെ നയിച്ച ഗാന്ധി കൃഷ്ണന്‍ എന്നറിയപെടുന്ന എം. കൃഷ്ണന്‍ ആണ് കുഡുംബി സമുദായ ആചാര്യന്‍.

ഗാന്ധികൃഷ്ണന്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കേകിയ ആവേശത്തിന്‍ ദീപശിഖ തലമുറ തലമുറ കൈമാറി കെടാതെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ സൂക്ഷിക്കും.

KSS works in a three level heirarchy ie, State executive and Director Board, Taluk unions and the local Shakas / Branches. The State executive is governed by the State President as its Chairman, General Secretary, Senior Vice-president, Vice-President, Treasurer and the State Secretaries. The Director Board consists of Board members, President and Secretaries of sub-organisation, Presidents and Secretaries of all taluk unions. There are 232 local Branches working under 12 Taluk unions (as on 27 July 2019, 56th- KSS GBM). The KMSS, KYS and KKSA are the sub-organisations representing the women, youth and Student fraternity respectively. KSS State Administrative office is located at Town Hall Cross, Ernakulam North,Kochi-23.

KSS has always led the community to fight for their rights by organising peacefull ways of struggles and campaigns. With proactive actions, KSS has achieved in getting educational fee concessions, State reservations under the OBC / OEC category. After two years of statewide campaigns organised by KSS, in 2008 State Govt. granted 1% reservations for the kudumbi community in various Professional courses. Its another milestone achievement of KSS which has opened plethora of opportunities for our students, enpowering them to compete with the progressive society.

Since 1965 KSS has been demanding for the inclusion of the community in SC / ST list . The statutory State recommendations for the same were submitted to the Central Govt. in 1967, 1978, 1982 and 2007. A negligible representation of the community exist in various Govt. departments. Nobody from the community has ever reached the coveted position of IAS / IPS / IFS . An extreme educational and professional backwardness still persists among the youths. In this scenario KSS has also demanded 1% reservation in various State Govt posts. These unfulfilled demands are justifiable and deserves due considerations from the State, major political parties, other social organisations. KSS stands by to achieve the ultimate objective of social equality and justice as enshrined in the Indian constitution for the upliftment of backward communities.
